Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) : A Breakthrough in the treatment of cellulite
We are an established healthcare practice with a team of experienced health professionals. Although our primary services include physiotherapy, sports therapy, acupuncture, spinal manipulation and remedial sports massage, we are branching out into this new, innovative therapy which aims to benefit the health and wellbeing of our existing clientele as well as the local and wider community.
Summary of Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT)
Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) is a unique non-invasive treatment for cellulite reduction, improving skin texture & tone and body contouring. It uses radial acoustic waves to trigger a number of processes including flushing fat cells through the bodies waste removal system and boosting collagen production, forming stronger layers of skin. Provided that you maintain a healthy diet and exercise regime, treatment yields long-term results.
Many scientific studies, including a recent pilot carried out by Clyde Injury Clinic, have demonstrated treatment with AWT to be both safe and effective for the treatment of localised fat deposits and have shown improvements in the appearance of cellulite and skin tone and firmness following a course of treatments. There is no better treatment for smoothing the skin affected by cellulite. For best results a course of 10 treatments is recommended.
In keeping with our role of health promotion, we will be offering all Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT) clients the opportunity to maximise their results by following the My Health Scotland 8 week diet and exercise regime at a discounted rate. We believe strongly that the key to a healthy body is a healthy lifestyle and that optimum results will always be achieved when these lifestyle factors are combined with treatment.
What can AWT treat?
Acoustic Wave therapy is a suitable treatment for cellulite and fat accumulations on the buttocks, inner and outer thighs, saddlebags, hips, knees, abdomen and arms, and can also be used to contour the body. Improvements can begin to be seen within 2-3 weeks of treatment.
AWT is not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise and will not help you lose weight.
How long will it take to recover from a AWT treatment?
There is no recovery associated with this treatment and you will be able to return to your daily activities almost immediately. Results are usually visible after 3 – 4 treatments, with further results up to three months following your last treatment. This is due to the stimulation of collagen synthesis (deep skin repair).
How does it work?
AWT works by stimulating fat break down and increasing both collagen synthesis and lymphatic drainage. AWT is delivered by placing a probe up against the areas of cellulite – as it passes over the area it emits radial waves through the skin. As the radial waves pass through the skin, these activate the fat cell membranes, making the fat cell more permeable, whilst increasing blood flow. The treatment also promotes lymphatic drainage, gradually and naturally allowing the body to excrete the newly permeable fat cells. This in turn reduces the cellulite appearance and increases skin elasticity.
Your AWT technician will first perform an in-depth consultation and your medical history will be taken, to ensure that there are no reasons why you shouldn’t have the treatment, you will be asked to sign a consent form at this time which means that you have understood the potential benefits and risks associated. We will take measurements and photos (optional) before the start your treatment.
Acoustic waves (also called sound, pressure or shock waves) have been shown to stimulate metabolic processes and improve connective tissue elasticity for cosmetic use in the treatment of cellulite, fat reduction, improvement in skin texture & tone and body contouring. The use of AWT (AWT™) for the treatment of cellulite is available across the UK although we are the first to introduce this treatment in the local and wider area. Acoustic energy is delivered to the targeted area, stimulating the breakdown of fat, lymphatic drainage and the formation of new collagen for improved skin tone and firmness. There is no real downtime associated with this treatment. 1-2 sessions per week are recommended with ten sessions advised for the best results.
What is the cost of AWT?
The cost of your AWT treatment will vary depending on the location and the number of area you would like treated. A course of 10 sessions ranges from £349 for 1 medium area to £999 for 3 large areas.
