My Knee

Understanding Knee Problems

The knee is the largest joint in your body and one of the most complex, involving bones,
cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and muscles all working together. It bears significant weight while
allowing for bending, straightening, and slight rotation. This complexity and the demands placed
on the knee make it susceptible to various injuries and conditions.
Knee problems can range from acute sports injuries to gradual wear and tear from daily
activities. Whether you’re dealing with sudden pain from an injury or chronic discomfort that’s
developed over time, proper treatment can help restore function and get you back to your
activities.

Common Knee Conditions We Treat

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injuries Tears or sprains of this crucial knee ligament, often occurring in sports, causing instability, swelling, and difficulty bearing weight.

Meniscus Tears Damage to the cartilage that cushions the knee joint, causing pain, swelling,
and sometimes locking or catching sensations.

Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome Pain around or behind the kneecap, often called “runner’s knee,” commonly caused by overuse or muscle imbalances.

Knee Osteoarthritis Wear and tear of knee joint cartilage, causing pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility, particularly common in older adults and former athletes.

Iliotibial Band Syndrome Inflammation of the band of tissue running from hip to knee,  causing pain on the outside of the knee, common in runners and cyclists.

Patellar Tendonitis Inflammation of the tendon connecting the kneecap to the shinbone, often called “jumper’s knee,” causing pain below the kneecap.

Knee Bursitis Inflammation of fluid-filled sacs around the knee joint, causing localized swelling
and pain.
